Get to know our co-host Maggie Lowe!

Maggie is a North Carolina kid who is as happy cycling down a gravel road as she is hanging a hammock in the mountains or kayaking on the lake. She started cycling in 2019 to raise money, miles, and awareness for pediatric cancer and it has been a mostly happy blur ever since. She is so excited to make the cycling world more inclusive as part of the All Bodies on Bikes family through co-hosting the podcast and leading a local All Bodies chapter. She currently lives in the greater Charlotte area with her guitar, Mykah and their two bikes, Gigi and Kai.

Oliviah (she/her) is a biracial chicana who is passionate about social justice, advocacy for inclusion in cycling, plants, and her two cats. She was born in Portland Oregon, but proud to call Dena'ina lands in Anchorage Alaska, home now. She works in Community Education at a non profit called Native Movement and also spends time working in community with other cyclists to organize and facilitate BIPOC affinity rides in Anchorage!

She considers herself to still be a novice cyclist; having just gotten into bikepacking, winter rides on frozen bodies of water, and cycling with groups. She was a 2022 Ride for Racial Justice team athlete at Steamboat Gravel. The bike is a vehicle for liberation; her identities as queer, larger bodied, BIPOC, adopted, femme.... they are all made free and celebrated when she is having fun and pushing herself on a bike."

This week Marley recaps her experience at Mid South Gravel! Join us for on-the-ground conversations showcasing how joyful, fun, and inclusive the event was. She also got a chance to sit down with Bobby Wintle and share more about the event from his perspective.

Bobby Wintle is the co-owner of District Bicycles and The Mid South both located in Stillwater, OK. For the last 11 years he has been building real community through the shop and The Mid South has now grown into one of the top 5 biggest gravel/dirt road events in the world. Bobby loves cooking Brussel sprouts on Cast Iron and could stare at a sunset and cry for hours. He’s into both long, grueling hike-a-bikes up mountains and sweet, beautiful long walks on the beach. Word on the street is that he’s a pretty good hugger. Bobby believes in humans and that they are capable of much more than they ever thought possible. He invites everyone to come to the Weekend Endurance Festival that is The Mid South next March 14-17.

Cameron Sanders is a man of many hats. He’s worn a spelunking helmet, a bicycle helmet, a race directors cap, a stetson as a Park Ranger for 13 years, and - most recently - a work hat as the Vice President of Product Development and Marketing for Wren Sports.

In this episode he tells us about how he got into cycling in Alaska, his filmmaking endeavors from the saddle, and gets into his thoughts and suggestions on suspension setups for larger riders. Finally, he tells us about his film, Chingona, where he shows Olivia Franke's journey to SBT gravel.

Gravel cycling specifically, has been known recently for its efforts to be more inclusive. But inclusivity doesn't just happen, it takes people behind the scenes working tirelessly in advocacy work, and community building. This week, we welcome Greer Van Dyck to discuss her journey to her current role - community relations director of SBT Gravel.

Greer shares why she loves her job, the challenges she faces in this role, and what it takes to build an inclusive community. Delving deep into asking the right questions, and opening conversations, the trio works to understand the various boundaries different people may face in the cycling space.

For those who do not fit into traditional sizes, it can be extremely challenging to find sports-specific activewear that actually fits. And by actually fits, we mean - not just extremely stretchy traditional sizes. This week, Marley and Maggie unpack what it means to them, as women living in larger bodies, to have cycling clothes that feel good.

The duo discusses the limitations of the cycling industry, their personal journey to finding a small few companies they actually like, and what it felt like the first time they tried on a bike kit. Finally, they share what they each like to wear on rides, and which kits they would recommend.

For our first episode, the trio discusses how this platform will be used, and the variety of topics and themes we will focus on as we move forward. Touching on bike weight limits, finding a comfortable saddle, and Marley's distaste for "party pace" - the group highlights the importance of size inclusion in the bike community and beyond.
